1. Tablet Press Machine Test
The customer arrived at our showroom at noon, carrying a single bag of powder. Since the amount of material was limited, our engineering team began by using only one-quarter of the powder for the first test.
Echter, the initial trial raised several issues:
Surface Roughness: The tablets appeared dull and lacked smoothness.
Insufficient Hardness: Although shape formation was acceptable, tablet hardness did not meet specifications.
Punch Sticking: After increasing pressure to achieve required hardness, the tablet surface remained rough, and the powder began sticking to the punches. This caused an abnormal rise in lower-punch pressure, eventually stopping the machine.
2. Where is the Difficult?
After careful examination, our engineers identified three possible causes:
2.1 Poor Powder Flowability
Uneven filling could lead to inconsistent force distribution during tablet pressing.
2.2. Insufficient Lubrication
Without proper lubrication, the tablets would scrape against the die wall during ejection, damaging the surface.
2.3. Punch Sticking
Certain raw materials tend to adhere to the punch surface, creating dents, pits, or a rough tablet finish.
With these challenges in mind, our technical team designed a series of step-by-step solutions.
3.How to Solution?
3.1. Dry Granulation Before Tablet Press
The first approach was to improve powder flowability through dry granulation.
Using a dry granulator, our engineers processed another quarter of the material to produce uniform granules, which were then fed into the automatic tablet press machine.
Echter, the resulting tablets looked the same—dull, slightly rough, and still showing signs of punch sticking.
This indicated that granulation alone was not enough to issue inherent.
3.2. Adding Magnesium Stearate as a Lubricant
The second approach focused on improving lubrication.
The remaining half of the powder was blended with 0.5% magnesium stearate, using a three-dimensional mixer to ensure uniform distribution of the lubricant.
The results were immediate and impressive:
The tablet surface became smooth and clean.
No scratches or defects appeared.
Punch sticking disappeared entirely, and machine pressure remained stable.
The hardness and uniformity of the tablets fully met production requirements.
This confirmed that the primary issue was insufficient lubrication in the customer’s original formula—something neither KEUM SUNG nor PTK identified during earlier trials.
3.3. Optional Film Coating for Enhanced Appearance
After resolving compression problems, our engineers also demonstrated an optional film-coating process using the high-efficiency coating machine.
This machine sprays polymer coating solution onto the tablet surface and dries it rapidly, forming a thin, uniform layer.
The coating not only improves visual appearance—making tablets glossy and attractive—but also provides:
Better swallowability
Moisture protection
Dust reduction
Improved tablet stability
The customer appreciated the flexibility of adding this finishing step if desired for future production.
Customer’s Approval
At the end of the visit, the customer expressed great satisfaction with the trial results and Ruidapacking’s professional approach.
“Ruidapacking doesn’t simply sell machines. They provide real solutions based on our needs. We will seriously consider your proposal and report it to our board of directors. I hope we can work together.” the customer told Mary before leaving.
Conclusie
Ruidapacking’s strength not only as a pharmaceutical and packing machinery supplier but as a reliable partner capable of solving complex formulation and process challenges.
From powder behavior analysis to tablet press process optimization, optional coatingn—Ruidapacking demonstrated the depth of experience and commitment required to support customers in the pharmaceutical and nutraceutical industries.
Met vertrouwen opgebouwd door echte resultaten, we kijken ernaar uit om onze samenwerking met de Koreaanse klant voort te zetten en een productieoplossing te leveren die echt aan hun verwachtingen voldoet.
